I like the way you did a 'year in review'. I'll be going back to read some of your posts that I missed (not football related tho - I won't have a clue what you're talking about). Looking forward to your 2012 posts.

Re: FIFA Another Corruption Breakdown.

You've really got into this Clarkson dialogue haven't you.

Re: FIFA Another Corruption Breakdown.

It's almost laughable - he's suggesting that by adopting the governance methods of large international corporations FIFA will be more ethical and less corrupt! Considered China but not in a seventh cavalry way.Would have played into many articles the economics as you suggest then there's the Himalayan earthquake problems their hunger for copper Zambia being a huge producer and China's invsetments in the country and Sata's vocal rhetoric against foriegn mining firms in Zambia.
Think Gaudi would have said what you were waiting for me to come back and finish it ehhhh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Re: This Mornings News Headlines

Phew, someone was paying attention to the World Service last night!

You don't mention China, what do you think, can it be the saviour of the world economy? I've been thinking for a while that maybe the west needs to rethink the whole idea of growth as a measure of economic health, resources will run out eventually, don't we need economies that can be structured around how we manage this little problem?

As for the Sagrada Familia, I'm a bit disappointed to hear this, I rather liked the notion of it remaining forever unfinished, a stunning piece of art rather than a functional building, I wonder what Gaudi would have thought!

Re: Books and Other Materials

Well as you know from my blog I've bought The Lighter Side of Death this week, but also a couple from Amazon - a history of swearing, and a novel with the Devil as the main character. I think I should set up a new category in my book catalogue for pathological material! But I've resolved not to buy any more books for the moment (about time I read some of them) unless I see something that is just irresistble.

By the way,I didn't get the email alert for your reply - is there somethig I need to do at this end?
x

Re: Books and Other Materials

Well it's sort of catalogued but in two different places physically. The Shostakovich is on vynil and itune but no doubt there will be some on compilation in the CD department. When you arrived at the figure of 200 books to go was within a month of writing this.Otherwise there is every likely hood you have bought, ordered or picked-up more in some manner.

Re: Books and Other Materials

Very impressed with your CD collection - have you catalogued them or just counted them? Would like to have a peek if you've done a list (any Shostakovich? - my latest interest). I've thought about logging our music collection, but it's all over the place, and I think I'd get bored because all the items are the same size and shape, at least books all look a bit different from each other! I've still got lots of music on cassette tapes and still play them, though it seems ridiculously old-fashioned now.

I've nearly finished cataloguing my books - about 200 to go!

Re: A Change of Diet

Oh dear! It might have happened as a result of the daily two mile dog-walking I do now (or possibly the almond croissant from Sainsbury's that I no longer have each morning).

Re:
The FA and FIFA Part 2

Yes you have it sorted now.

Re:
The FA and FIFA Part 2

Does this mean that all FIFA members have to vote in person by travelling to Switzerland. There are 208 affiliated associations some of them very small countries vast distances away - that's a lot of air miles. Cant they vote online?

Interesting about lax accountability - not only do a lot of NGOs have their HQs there, but so do a lot of UN bodies! No doubt there are political reasons - Switzerland's traditional neutrality - but it makes you wonder.....

Re:
Could This Be FIFA’s Salt Lake City.

But the English FA are such a bunch of buffoons, would it make much difference if they cut loose from FIFA?

Re:
The FA and FIFA.

It works, just got an alert in my hotmail!

Re:
The FA and FIFA.

Seems football is being run by some very dodgy and power-hungry characters - makes me think a bit about how the Medicis ran Florence!

Re:
Popular and Rock Music.

This is really interesting. There seem to be hardly any radio programmes that actually provide some education in contemporary music; I find most radio music shows a bit crass, and the presenters can be so irritating, so I don't listen and consequently I don't really know what decent music is around, or where to go to find out other than random recommendations on facebook! I'll definitely give this a try

Re: Welcome

There is no "wrong" Blog.
